I don't know about you, but lately I've been bored by the redundancy of friending memes. It feels like I'm always being asked the same things — favourite books/movies/games/fandoms, things I post about, things I look for in friends... This is all well and good, I don't have anything against those questions — I've found so many good LJ-friends through them, why would I? — but I find myself hoping to be asked something new at every friendzy I participate in.
And then I thought, why not organize one myself?

Currently, what are you...
... Reading? I just finished Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao, and in retrospect I think that a lot of my issues with it were that I didn't know that it was YA going in. Not that there's anything wrong with YA, it's just that for the unprepared it was extremely YA.
... Watching? I am loving the second season of Star Trek: Picard.
... Listening to? I listen to Critical Role as a podcast and am just about to finish up campaign two. I'm not sure whether to go back and listen to campaign one (The Legend of Vox Machina was unconvincing on this front) or move on and try to listen to campaign three in more or less real time.
... Playing? Elden Ring. Have I ever played a Soulsbourne game before? No. Do I know what the Elden Ring even is? Not really. Do I know who I am in the game? Er, no. Did it take me fifty hours to get out of the starting area? Kind of. And yet, still I play.
... Working on (job-wise and/or leisure-wise)? I work in a residential care home for older folks, I tend not to talk about it online because it is exactly as much fun as it sounds. But some day I may finally snap and inflict on everyone my novel length essay about all the ways the care system is fundamentally broken.
... Looking forward to? Everything Everywhere All at Once coming out in the UK
... Worried/concerned/annoyed about? I try to keep my online presence pretty fandom/media oriented, but sometimes my frustrations at UK politics will spill over (spoiler: I think Boris Johnson is a dick.)

What were your last three LJ entries about and when did you post them? A post about all of the media I consumed last month, a mini review of Horizon: Forbidden West, and me overthinking social awkwardness with regard to dropping out of ttrpg game I wasn't enjoying.
Anything else? Mostly fandom, but with occasional digressions about my dog, cooking, UK politics, and general Scottishness.

Oh, I have Iron Widow on my list and am wary exactly because it's YA (there's a limit to how much YA I can stomach, and I think it's also 1st person pov?).

Yeah, and it wasn't even the first person pov that killed it for me, it was the ever stacking love interests and sudden cliffhanger ending to make it first in a series.

That said, if you go in expecting a fun YA romp, it's a perfectly good one.

What was going on with this last Six Nations. They do realise that there are other teams besides England in the tournament, right, and you can at least try to beat them.

Scottish sport in gen has an issue with this lbr. Beat all the big teams! Lose to the Faroe Islands/Italy. ....oops.

I think that is why the nation is so behind Andy Murray. He can win? Like? Consistently?!

Hello! Adding you as a fellow Critter and video game lover :) Also I love Scotland - lots of Scots in my family and I always enjoy visiting!

Re: CR campaigns, I would definitely recommend going to C3 after you finish C2. I got into CR during C2 and have tried & failed to watch C1, but C3 is a great time with more interesting characters/relationships IMO.

I think I'm going to finish up C2 (I'm listening to the last few episodes while I die endlessly in Elden Ring) and then go on to EXU and C3. I liked the animated show well enough while I was watching it but it didn't do much to convince me that I wanted to spend hundreds of hours with those characters.
